Chandsuraj Village Becomes Maharashtra’s First Sunrise Point of 2026

Chandsuraj village, located in the Salekasa taluka of Gondia district, holds a unique geographical position near the Maharashtra–Chhattisgarh border. Due to this location, the first rays of the sun in Maharashtra touch this village before any other place in the state.

First Sunlight Falls on Shivling

As the New Year dawned today, the earliest sunlight fell directly on a Shivling placed in an open area of the village. This rare and naturally occurring phenomenon has been observed for many years and has given Chandsuraj recognition as a symbolic sunrise point.

Surya Puja Marks the Beginning of 2026

Just before sunrise, villagers gathered at the site and performed Surya Puja. The ritual was conducted to welcome the year 2026 with prayers for peace, prosperity, and good fortune for the community.

Local Belief: Residents believe that witnessing the first sunrise of the year brings positive energy and spiritual blessings, making the event deeply meaningful for the village.
